Lefkada’s coastline is a study in contrasts. The west coast, facing the open Ionian, is a wall of white limestone cliffs with long beaches of fine white pebble and the most vivid turquoise sea in Greece: Porto Katsiki, Egremni, Kathisma, Pefkoulia, Milos and Agios Nikitas. Expect some waves and afternoon wind — and unforgettable sunsets.

The east coast, sheltered by the mainland, is calm and green: family beaches at Nydri, Desimi, Poros and Mikros Gialos, with tavernas at the water’s edge. In the south, Vasiliki and Agiofili.

Several beaches carry the Blue Flag. Lifeguards operate on the main beaches in summer. Please take your litter with you — the island’s beauty is its greatest asset.
